How Rutgers Men’s Ice Hockey handles information submitted through scarletknightshockey.com.

Effective October 19, 2026

Scope

This policy applies to this Rutgers Men’s Ice Hockey website. It covers public pages, the prospective-player questionnaire, and the restricted website editor. Links to the team shop, social networks, league websites, video platforms, and other external services are governed by those services’ own policies.

Information we collect

Information you provide

The prospective-player questionnaire may collect your name, email address, optional phone number, hometown, graduation year, current team, playing position, height and weight, student status, academic interests, Rutgers preference ranking, application plan, hockey program interest, preferred staff contact, inquiry topic, an optional player-profile or highlight link, and any message you choose to provide.

Technical information

Our hosting and security providers may process limited technical data needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security logs. The restricted editor uses authentication information so authorized staff can sign in.

We do not request payment-card information, government identification numbers, medical records, or account passwords through the recruiting questionnaire.

How information is used

  • Review and respond to prospective-player inquiries.
  • Communicate about Rutgers Hockey recruiting and program opportunities.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure the website.
  • Prevent spam, misuse, and unauthorized editor access.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations and protect the program, visitors, and others.

Submitting the questionnaire is separate from Rutgers University admission and does not guarantee admission, recruitment, or a roster position.

Sharing, storage, and retention

Recruiting information is shared only with authorized Rutgers Hockey personnel who need it for program operations. Service providers may process information on our behalf for website hosting, database storage, security, authentication, and—when enabled—email delivery and private Google Sheets used by recruiting staff. Authorized staff can export submissions and enable a private spreadsheet connection for recruiting administration. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

We retain information only while it is reasonably needed for recruiting, team administration, security, or legal purposes. Information may remain for a limited period in protected backups. When it is no longer needed, it may be deleted or de-identified.

Security

The website uses HTTPS encryption in transit, access controls for the editor and recruiting submissions, same-origin form checks, input validation, and anti-spam protections. No online system can guarantee absolute security, so please do not submit sensitive personal information that the questionnaire does not request.

Cookies and browser storage

The public site does not use advertising or behavioral-analytics cookies. It uses only storage that is necessary or functional for the site:
